New Zealand - Hiking Tongariro National Park

Immer noch ohne Ring ging es nach Mordor ins Zentrum des Tongariro Nationalparks. In diesem Vulkangebiet bilden die drei geologisch recht jungen, teilweise aktiven, Vulkane Tongariro (1968m), Ngauruhoe (2291m) und Ruapehu (2797m), das Zentrum des Parks. In diesem Bereich  kann man die atemberaubende Vulkan-und Kraterlandschaft durchqueren. Das „Tongariro Alpine Crossing“ nahmen wir uns als Tagesausflug vor – 19,4 km durch eine Mondlandschaft.Begleitet wurden wir von den Globetrottern Petra&Daniel, die wir auf unserer Whanganui-Kanutour kennengelernt hatten.

Still without a ring we went to “Mordor” to the heart of the Tongariro National park. In this volcanic area the three pretty young and partly active volcanoes Tongariro (1968m), Ngauruhoe (2291m) und Ruapehu (2797m) are the center of this park. There you can go for breathtaking volcano tours. We went for a day tour called “Tongariro Alpine Crossing” right through the 19.4 km long moon landscape called “Mordor” in “Lord of the Rings”.

We were accompanied by the globetrotter Petra&Daniel which we met on our Wanganui canoe tour.

New Zealand - Canoeing Whanganui National Park

In den letzten Tagen zeigte sich die Sonne mal wieder, was wir gleich für einige Outdoor-Aktivitäten nutzen:

As the sun was shining during the last days, we took advantage of it and did some outdoor activities:

Whanganui National Park

Auf dem Fluß ‘Whanganui‘ hatten wir total viel Spaß beim Kanufahren und Campen. Zusammen mit Petra,Daniel und Jörg waren wir für 2 Tage und ungefähr 66 km „die Gefährten“. Die Kanu-Reise auf dem Fluß zählt zu einem der „10 Great Walks“. Da wir schon einige ausgelassen hatten, haben wir nun zum Paddel gegriffen.

Wir paddelten durch Täler und Schluchten, vorbei an Wäldern, riesigen Farnen und einigen Wasserfällen des Whanganui Nationalparks. Durch die Stromschnellen zu heizen machte am meisten Laune, in ruhigeren Flussebenen konnten wir manchmal sogar das „Horn von Gondor“ alias Tomy hören ; )

Am letzten Tag wurden wir mit 500 PS unterm Hintern mit einem Schnellboot wieder zum Ausgangspunkt zurück gefahren.

We had lots of fun on a canoing/camping tour on the Whanganui River, together with Petra&Daniel and Jörg we were the great fellowship for 2 days and about 66km.

The journey on the Whanganui River is one of New Zealands “Great Walks”. Since we had missed already some of them we seized the great weather opportunity and grabbed the paddle. We canoed through valleys and gorges, surrounded by majestic ridges of the National Parks forest, big tree ferns and waterfalls. It was great fun to paddle through the rapids; in calm areas we could even hear the “Horn of Gondor” alias Tomy. On the last day of our trip we were brought back to the starting point with a 500 horsepower speed boat, which was really cool!

New Zealand - From South (Picton) to North (Wellington)

Vom wunderschönen "Marlborough Sound" im Norden der Südinsel ging es mit der Fähre in ca. 3,5 Stunden nach Wellington, zur Nordinsel Neuseelands.

From the beautiful "Marlborough Sound" in the north of the South Island we took the ferry (about 3.5 hours) to Wellington on the North Island of New Zealand.

Die Hauptstadt Neuseelands empfing uns in zwei wunderschönen Sonnentagen mit einem 'Art Festival' und beeindruckte mit seiner Architektur, Kunst, Musikszene, dem Museum
