When we decided to go to Kuala Lumpur, we didn’t realized what challenge it would be to buy a simple bus ticket at the Golden Miles complex somewhere off the city centre of SIngapore. (Yes we have the Lonely Planet, but still J. This place seemed to be managed by the Chinese and we had to practice our negotiation skills to get a reasonable price.
The next day we were on the way to KL, Malaysia in an unexpected very comfortable bus. After our first stop in Malaysia we faced our first restroom challenge having only a small hole in the ground. These are the times where you really become aware that the trip must have started.
The six hours drive gave us enough time to get to know Kesh from Malaysia. He had worked and studied in the UK for the last years and is now back trying to get a job in Singapore. He gave us some useful advises, such as a trustworthy hostel. We took a taxi together and he dropped us off at the hostel in the middle of a party location. The good thing about hostels is that you swap luxury with the chance of meeting locals and some other travelers.
